Stamford Public Schools Supplemental Education Services

 What is SES?

  • Part of the No Child Left Behind Act
  • Supplemental Educational Services are additional academic instruction designed to increase the academic achievement of eligible students who attend Title I Schools.
  • Free tutoring services designed to help students in identified Title I schools
    (2nd year and beyond) improve academically
  • May include tutoring, remediation and other educational interventions
  • Provided outside the regular school day
  • Eligible families choose a provider from a list developed by the State Department of Education
  • School districts pay directly for services
  • Must be in line with state academic standards and connected to the school district's instructional program

SES benefits students by:

  • Improving student achievement and work habits

  • Meeting specific student learning needs
  • Improving social and behavioral skills
  • Supporting schools that are working to improve the academic achievement of all students

  • Public schools and districts not identified as in need of improvement
